My Doctor said to get a running shoe, but I don’t run.
We hear this question almost everyday. “My Doctor said to get a running shoe, but I don’t run.” This is a common statement from Doctors because for a very long time the running shoes had the best technology, and support. Times have changed and so has New Balance Shoes.
New Balance makes walking shoes with just as much technology invested in them as their premium running shoes. So the walking shoes are just as good as the running shoes. The big difference is, that if you are not running then you SHOULD get a walking shoe.
Walking shoes are made for walking. Meaning when you walk the contact you make with the ground is different compared to running. You get 100% contact with the ground with walking and New Balance Walking shoes take that into account. All of the cushioning and support features are geared towards this 100% contact that you create when walking.
In fact when you have a foot problem such as plantar fasciitis the support in the walking show would be more beneficial to you since the shoe itself if geared for walking and not running.
Once we make this statement usually the next question is; “Can I walk in a running shoe?” The answer is yes you can walk in a running shoe, but It would be better to walk in a walking shoe. You cannot run in a walking shoe.
More science and engineering goes into making shoes now. The ambition of New Balance to make high quality shoes that help out with foot problems and are activity specific is more prevalent that ever before.

I have pronated feet and plantar faciitis and have been seeing a podiatrist. What NB walking shoes are reccomended for people with plantar faciitis?
