Help! I Need Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis
Oct 27th, 2008 by admin
I Just got a phone call from a customer in distress. She was in so much pain from plantar fasciitis, to the point she had to go ahead and get a cortisone injection in her heel. We hate when the foot pain gets so overwhelming that a shot is needed.
She saw the page on New Balance Annapolis’ website that specifically listed shoes for plantar fasciitis and needed a recommendation. She was 110 lbs, and ran 30 miles per week. Right away we knew that she needed the best shoe New Balance had to offer for inner foot support (pronation) to help her out with the pain in her arches and heels. The New Balance 1224 is absolutely the best selection for her. She mentioned that she had orthotics from her doctor which was fine because all New Balance Shoes offer removable inserts so that special orthotics or upgraded inserts can be placed in the shoes. If she had been a bit heavier or exclaimed that she was a heavy heel striker than an alternate recommendation would be the New Balance 859 series which was designed for a heavier heel striker.
As the conversation continued I had asked her what type of shoes did she wear when she was not running? I told her that a good running shoe was needed when she was running, but a good walking shoe should be worn when she was not running and attending to day to day activities. The New Balance 845 has been the go to shoe for New Balance customers who have foot problems. The Women’s version of the 845 has a special last (shape) that accommodates women’s feet specifically. The New Balance 845 has a wide toe box, a high arch, and a narrow heel which is the general shape of most women’s feet. A man’s foot tends to be much different, so even the same New Balance 845 series for men is made on a different last (shape) than the woman’s version.
